The American Constitutional System at Risk: Can Our Democracy Die?

Michael L. Mezey, Author & Professor Emeritus

Tuesday, December 6, 2:00-3:00 pm

Notable author and professor Michael Mezey describes our current political environment as charactered by extreme partisan polarization, election denialism, and ongoing culture wars. Is this environment calling into question the stability of the American Constitutional system? Mezey is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at DePaul University in Chicago. He has published extensively in the areas of American politics, legislative politics, and comparative legislative behavior. In recent years, Mezey coedited Legislative Decline in the 21st Century (New York: Routledge, 2020). He also authored Selecting the President: The Perils of Democracy (New York: Routledge, 2018), among four other books.
